The Party
Last year it was Star Wars, this year Nemo. After this party, it was quite apparent I really am my mother's child, we both tend to bite off a little more than we can chew, delegate the design stuff to our husbands, recruit the help of the construction paper wiz Whitney, and stay up way too late the night beforehand. It was all worth it though. Luke loved every minute of it.
The invites:
The decorations:
In keeping with the fishy theme.
The food:
Fish sandwiches, gold fish crackers, and carrots for the kids. Fruit, chicken curry croissant sandwiches, and tortellini salad for the adults, & cupcakes for dessert. Luke blew out his candles but only pretended to take a bite of his cake.
The games:
A favorite from my childhood, go fish, for many useless nemo inspired knicknacks. & the old standby, the Pinata. The kids went crazy for both.
The kids & presents:
All of Luke's new friends spoiled him rotten, but the crowd favorite was the fish from Aunt Tara.
The favors:
Craft boxes filled with Nemo goodness for the kids, and sweedish fish for the adults.
And the birthday boy:
Still reveling.

i'm totally feeling like an inadequate mother after reading this. what a great party.
and i too have the same issue of biting off more than i can chew....my husband is frequently bailing me out...
perfect party! the tiny glimpse of the chicken curry sandwiches made my mouth water.
cute party!
so so fun. i love watching little kids hit pinatas- so ineffective and so cute. happy birthday to lukey from us!
Great party. And that Luke really is cute!
Oh... he's darling. Love those stripes. Our boy is 11 now, but at that age that's all he'd wear. So, I took a little trip down memory lane with this post. Thanks.
Hope you're settling into your new home.
What a cute memorable party. Best kid party I've been to yet. I enjoyed all the activities and of course the food. Call me if you want to hang...
I always miss Luke's Parties GOSH!!!
P.S. can I still always be invited?
What is being a mother without biting off more than you can chew? Though it always comes together in the end, who cares about sleep. Wow you certainly come from an artistic family! Any interest in planning the twins' next birthday? :)
I want to be 2 again! How fun! I really need you to send me your chicken curry sandwich recipe. You made them after camping last summer and they were delish. nice work!
Ha, you really are like mom. That was an excellent description of you both. And regardless of how much you chew, your parties are always wonderful. I was glad I could come up, from downstairs, to enjoy all the nemo festivities. And to think it was all put together in two days, literally. You amaze me. And make me worried for any baby you ever have after little Luke. But until then I look forward to when he is fwee. (Because it's cuter if you say it that way). And word on Whitney being the construction paper whiz. Girlfriend's got mad skills.
That looks like so much fun! It makes me regret my decision to keep Jackson's birthday low-key. I guess I'll have a lot of years to make up for it. Maybe I'll have to get some pointers from you...I'm not nearly as creative as you are. Nice work! Happy Birthday Luke!
And the 'hit' becomes a tragedy. Sad face.
