Fall Bags
I love bags. It seems you can never have enough of them, or at least I can't. I have at least 3 hanging on every coat rack and a whole cabinet shoved full of them. And with fall approaching quickly, what a great excuse to make a new one. I also decided Luke needed one as well, of course matching with mine. I have had an obsession with horses lately, so it was crucial they were incorporated into the bags.
I do have to take advantage before he decides matching with mom isn't so cool. (I am working on matching shirts for us now too).
I bought this book a few months back as an excuse to use it for my church's crafting activities. It has great patterns for aprons, oven mitts, napkins, really all things domestic. So far I have only used it for the bags, I think for December we will make some gifty items out of it.
I had my own ideas about how I wanted the bags to look, inside and out, so I only really used these patterns for inspiration. Because they are so simple, there is a lot of room for creativity with them. They were easy and fun to do. Great gift ideas as well. What toddler doesn't want his or her own backpack?
I do apologize for the poor quality of my photos. Unfortunately the camera of my dreams will just have to wait, along with my lighting options.

Well me thinks that Auntie Tara is not too old to match Lukey and Leesha, but as you've already reminded me, and probably will again, you already bought me a tote bag, but still, these are awesomely adorable. I, of course, love. But really if you think how adorable it would be with you and your son with matching bags and shirts, how much MORE cute, um, er, would it be with you, your son, and your 25 year old plus a bunch of months that probably would equal well over two years if we actually took the time to add them all together, but that would take way too much time to do so we just go ahead and say I'm 25 because it's easier, mathwise, wearing one as well? Can you just imagine it? Well at least try first. Here let me paint you a picture. No wait that is obviously going to take too long and the shipping costs will make it not worth it so I'll just 'write you a picture.' You, Lukey, and I, or me, or we can go in third person and say Tara, it doesn't matter, it's not crucial to the story. We are walking down that street of yours, again not crucial, and we are walking, we wave to Shazzy or Shasta, or let's just call her Whitney's friend cause I can't remember her name. She quickly recognizes that we are all matching. She loves it. We smile back and thank her for noticing. We smile at eachother, totally basking in the glory that we are so cute. Luke is also smiling but that's probably because he just let out a little gas. We keep on. Oh look at that, it's Katie and the kids. She too see's how cute the three of us are in our matching outfits. She's jealous. She doesn't say so, but we can see it in her eyes. Or at least I can see it but I wait until after we leave before I say so. The day continues and everywhere we go, people look at us. Are we all twins? Oh silly no. Lukey is a baby can't you see? He's my nephew. She's my sister. But I am single. And suddenly we find me a husband. You never know. Just think about this as you go on to your next project. But either way, cute cute cute. And I love Lukey actually volunteering to get himself in the stroller.
Um holy lunch sack that was a lot longer than I meant for it to be. Sorry sister.
This is one of my fav crafting books...I made the reversible arpon in there tho, and about chucked my sewing machine across the room...lol
Your bags look great!
Oops...Apron-duh!
um when you get back to Utah sometime we'll have to tackel the SURGER together.
hi alyssa,
it might not be the camera of your dreams but i think you asked us about ours... we use the sony dsc-h9 - we are far from photographers but it makes us look good. Its big if you dont mind portability - we got it from a recommendation after our previous one left us and have totally liked it - i think its fairly reasonable priced.
