I'm no hippie...

but I love my hippie sandals.

I debated on getting these, for several months. For one, I have plenty of sandals, and two, I just wasn't sure I could pull them off the way I imagined in my head. While I was in Vegas a few weeks ago looking for running shoes, I stumbled on these. I put them on my feet and the comfort was so tantalizing, I thought hell, I'll make them work.

And these gladiators. I saved up forever for them, just kidding I used some of the money from the equity of our the sale of our house. Tom got a bike, I got these. You probably think I'm crazy, and I am, but I have been wanting them for three years now and I knew I would never ever be able to have them unless I did what I did. And I wear them almost every day. An investment for an investment.

And if you happen to like my skirt, check back next week. I'm going to put one or two in the shop. I'm just looking for the perfect fabric.

I have those with in gunmetal gray and rhinestone buckles and love them! I think they look modern and cool.

I'm on my second pair of Gizehs. I feel like they carry a bit of a classic look and am surprised to find that I don't see them on many people. (At least not in my town.)

Good choice.

I especially like the second one. They look great with your outfit! (Or your outfit looks great with those sandals.)

sarah came into town with her cute gizehs and i almost convinced myself i was going to get them. . . but my feet are just too ugly for them. boo. maybe i'll get over it next summer. . .

and the gladiators are great! i love crazy spending rationalizations! (and we both know that you earned these with the three years of wanting and waiting)

I love your style. And I am SO happy to see someone else who layers during the summer months. Everyone thinks I'm crazy, but I don't want to go the whole summer wearing my husband's old t-shirts in an effort to stay cool.

I was wondering if those were the shoes you have blogged about in the past when I saw you wearing them the other day. way to splurge girl!

Did you take both of these pictures on the same day? Like a mid-show gown change by Beyonce! You look great (but maybe next time you can change your hair-weave for the second look!)

Wow! Love both! So jealous over the gladiator sandals! You make me totally want a pair of birks! Love the skirt, want one of those too!

I think it's OK to wear hippie shoes and not be a hippie. My wife wears lesbian shoes (birks) but I don't think she's a lesbian.

Great blog.

I was also at the Death Cab show. I've gotten to the point that I usually feel too old for concerts but I definitely saw a guy there that was much fatter, balder, and older than me, so I felt better.

Your husband's a great designer, where does he work?

Sorry about the Honda, try a Toyota, that's the conservative automobile for me.

Over and out.

oh yay you got those shoes - seems like you posted about them awhile ago. so comfortable. you wont' regret it.

Those shoes do look great on you. You are looking super skinny and hot! That skirt is very flattering on you. I would like to say I could pull off the high waisted thing but for sure probably not for a year or more.

I personally love the Built By Alysha line much better. (p.s. thinking about you all the time and still missing you)

You are no hippie, but you HAD to get those birkenstocks, and I never in a million years that I would say that but I almost bought myself a pair, that's how much you HAD to get them.

And the gladiators, you've been wanting forever so I am going to go with Katie and say in some twisted way you "deserve" them, (that's something you would say though I've never understood that saying, nonetheless you do).

And you can never have too many sandals. Just like you can never have too many converse. Or can you?
