Back to School

Picture 5

I'm at it again. This year I am learning how to teach Suzuki violin book 2 and book 3. I'm hoping this time around I will actually do something with my training. Last year I walked away motivated, inspired, and very excited to teach little ones how to make beautiful sounds from a such a small instrument. With moving,I somehow let that excitement get a little clouded, but I'm ready again.

If you know someone that is interested in learning the violin through the Suzuki method, pass them along. I took Suzuki from the early age of 5, and it has done so many things for me, even beyond learning to play.

Here's to 8-5 classes for the next 12 days!!

I was just going to call you, I guess I will just have to wait. Good for you that you are taking these classes!

Hey Alysha, I do have a question for you. How early can you start? I ask because I learned to play the viola starting at age 9 (it was my second instrument.) Since I started piano first, I don't have a frame of reference for when a child could possibly start strings. What's your suggestion?

Azucar,

I started at age 5, but I have seen kids even at age three start, so cute and amazing.
you wanna learn?

I'm so glad to be able to see your blog. I love the lounge gown, I need to get one of those. Max is doing violin right now and loving it, too bad you don't live here, you could teach him everything you know. BTW...have we ever met? We need to :)

This so so great. I remember when you were playing for Maya Shore. You have such a talent. The violin is my favorite instrument. Congrats!

oh I am jealous. The whole experience is so fantastic and uplifting. I wish I was there...you will have to post updates, how you like the instructor and do you recognize anyone from last year? I hope books 2 & 3 go well for you this week. :)

Hey Alysha,
Of course I remember you. Your little Luke sure if darling. My Luke just turned 2 in March and we are having a little girl in about 6 weeks. I was checking out your Etsy site and those dresses are to die for. I'm trying to decide which one I want to get for this little peanut. I'm thinking a 12 month size to enjoy next summer would be perfect. I'm so glad you left me a comment. It's fun to see what you are up to.

Suzuki, the only way to go if you are learning an instrument, seriously. I may no longer play the (tiny voice) flute, but while I did it made everything so much easier and picking up other instruments easier (not literally picking them up, Suzuki doesn't give you more muscle strength).

Now 'we' just need to get you teaching. You'll be an excellent teacher.
