Food routines (obsessions)

I tend to be a creature of habit when it comes to food. Tom can attest that when I find something I like, I go way overboard. And I don't just mean, I have it once a week, or even once a day. I literally eat it for breakfast, lunch, and if I can get away with it, for dinner too. This can go on for months. And I really don't tire out on it.

I haven't always been like this. I would say within the last 5 years, right around the time I realized if I didn't eat pasta, donuts, pizza, etc, I might be able to slim down a bit, I started adopting these strange obsessions. The thing is, I have tricked my mind into thinking that these semi "healthier" foods I get into, will actually be the answer to my body issues. I  don't think I really love these foods, I just tell myself I do. And somehow it works.

For the last 3-4 months, I almost eat these foods at least once or twice a day.

Rice crackers and hummos. And I will ONLY eat these brands. I go through a pack of these crackers umm....I hate to admit it but one every 2 days. And this hummos is the best. I need a Utah substitute.

Veggie Burgers. Again, I will only eat these. I usually put one in the toaster, and then of course, spread hummos on top. And sometimes I even make little veggie burger hors devours. Tasty!

And of course, without fail, at least 2 of these a day. If I can make an excuse to drive my car, I usually pull up to McDonald's, the only place in Brooklyn (within a reasonable driving distance) that I can buy a way overpriced fountain DC. And when Tom isn't with me, I ask them to put a lime in it, he gets embarrassed by my outlandish requests, but usually I just run down stairs to the deli and grab a bottle. And, no, I'm not addicted, I just love the taste.

I also lately (as in the last year) love corn on the cob, almonds & almond butter, vanilla pudding snack packs, oatmeal, & egg white veggie omelets.  These all go on rotations depending on my moods.

I go through food phases too. I am trying to convince myself that sugar is going to kill me. I have been doing alot of research on the negative effects of sugar and have 146 reasons why not to eat sugar on my fridge. I hope it works. I too love the rice crackers, you should try them w/ the laughing cow cheese, its way good!

I go through phases of good food and then bad food. Right now its string cheese, diet pepsi, more string cheese, chocolate, diet pepsi. you be the judge which phase I am in.

I love all the hummus at costco. Can't remember the brand but it's only there on occasion. My favorite is the sun-dried tomato. Do you eat any meat?

sounds like me on weight watchers cause I ate rice crackers, bocca burgers, and the egg white omlet! I am still trying to convince myself to buckle down and shed the last 10 ok 15 lbs.

Ha. This is true. You do eat these exact foods as they were staples on our road trip. (The rice snaps are rather smelly staples on a road trip, especially when on has a migraine, but they are quite tasty but as Leesh always reminds me, expensive tasty, so I can only have one, or two if she didn't notice (she never said that second part, I just decided I could have two if she didn't notice). Not that I can fault you for sticking with the same foods as I am a creature of habit myself. Kind of. And by kind of I mean so totally over board that it's ridiculous. I love my yogurts (and I only like my specific brand and specific flavor, raspberry thank you very much) and I love my apples, and I love my peanut butter but it has to be that certain kind of peanut butter otherwise my throat swells up as I think I'm a teensy bit allergic to peanuts. Then there's the wheat thins, though I'm slowly not as hound dog on those as I was last month. I wish there was a health kick food I was addicted to but sadly I just can't get myself addicted to anything like that, unless you count apples, but I don't really count apples because those are just fruit. Dad's candy bowl needs to disappear in a different way other than me eating the candy. Random sentence. And also even though this is completely not food related, could you call me as I have been trying to call you all morning, well morning here in Utah.

I am the same way, total food jags.

I just like the taste of Diet coke too!

I will definitely try the Costco hummus, or is it hummos? my brand is hummos. anywho,

no I am not a vegetarian, I am just lazy when it comes to cooking for just myself. I really enjoy cooking dinner, meat included, but I just can't get myself to actually prepare anything for just me. I did forget to mention that I also buy rotisserie chicken that I also eat with crackers and hummus.

and today? yes I ate the same thing, and walked 15 blocks out of my way just to go McDonalds for a Diet Coke.
