Blue Blue Electric Blue

As I looked at the cover page of my Lucky magazine for April, I knew cobalt blue would be my color choice for the season. I have since followed this trend by sewing myself a blue plaid dress, a blue shirt, and purchased blue ballet flats. Obsessive? maybe.

Over the last 2 weeks, I managed to squeeze a few more blue projects out. Lucky for me, the predictions for fall are bright jewel tones, which bright blue clearly exemplifies.

This skirt is a rip off I saw in a boutique while I was in Chicago. The price was well over $300, and I knew if I found a simple skirt pattern I could adjust it and maybe pull it off. I couldn't find a decent picture of the skirt anywhere online, so I emailed the company, and asked for it. It couldn't have been better, I was able to copy every last detail.

Although this dress isn't all blue, it captures it in the details. I made it as an unbirthday present for my sister Tara, who is a very dedicated Brooklyn Bean reader and commenter. Hope you like it Tara, you should get it today!

And of course, I couldn't resist making another turban in blue, and I also didn't feel so great about how the first one turned out. I made some adjustments and this one seems to be a bit closer to the real thing.

I am still waiting for my clothes to come in the mail. Those look great! I want a turban! I am all about anything that pulls back my hair and makes me look like I got ready for the day when I really haven't. You are so talented, you need to start selling these babies!

Hip hip! I did get it in the mail today. What perfect timing. I can't wait to wear it. I hope it looks as cute on me as it does just sitting here beside me. Funny how there it is and yet here it is. I love unbirthday presents. Feel free to give of them (to me) whenever the desire to give them to me arises even if I can't write sentences clearly. I love them. It really is super cute. I'm even going to be daring and wear it on a Tuesday or a Wednesday, maybe even a Friday. The skirt is fabulous and it's so totally 'you.' And I am loving the new blue turban, I would request one for myself, but I don't want to be greedy. Ha, that's not true. I don't mind being greedy. I just don't think it would look as cute on me as it does on you and while I don't mind being greedy I do mind not being cute. I love you in blue as looks so great with your eyes (that kind of sounds really weird, but whatever, it does), so this is a great little color to go all obessive on. As long as it's not red. And hehehe, at first I thought Staci was suggesting you sell your babies. I was like, wait just a minute. Lukey is cute but he is NOT for sale. And besides I already have dibs. But then I realized she meant the stuff you make, not the babies you make, and I calmed down, ate a little bit of a stale brownie, and agreed with her, you should, but then you'd have to stop making stuff for yourself, and there just isn't enough time in the day. Thanks again for the great dress. I love it I love it I love it!

I am still amazed each time I see one of your creations! Who would ever have thought 10 years ago you would be into the sewing thing! You are incredibly talented from your design wear, blog diary, and mother and wife! It almost makes me want to do some of those things...but why when I can enjoy all of yours!
