How we spent our rainy Monday
I love rainy days. I love the sound of the rain hitting the sidewalks, I love how our apartment gets dark with the hovering clouds, and I love the excuse to stay inside without feeling guilty about it.
Yesterday was a perfect rainy day. My day started with an early morning run through my neighborhood. I love getting soaked by the rain and how it disguises my red face and sweat. I love watching everyone go to work with their umbrellas trying to stay dry, and being thankful I am wet and going home to spend the day with my son. And I did just that, spent the day hanging out with him, indoors, with various activities that were just as fulfilling as spending it at the park or the pool.
The rest of it went something like this.
Staying in our pj's all day, well Luke did at least.
Reading lots of good books
Art projects including the medium of paper and crayons.
Making a healthy lunch for Luke consisting of Quinoa & chicken instead of the usual on the run PB & J.
Luke taking lots of these...
So I could begin making this dress
from this pattern, with major adjustments
while watching this.
After naps, Luke practiced his dancing skills while I practiced this piece for Sunday's church meeting.
And finally, we welcomed Tom home with dinner and a messy home, Luke then finished his day up with bath time and bed.
Tom and I spent the rest of our night cleaning the aftermath, doing laundry, and watching more Veronica Mars. Perfect!

hah! i'm making that dress! cut out the fabric and brought the pattern to adjust to work on here. although, i think my fabric is a little lighter, so we won't be total twins. . . so now i think we could have a full week of twindom of our hand made clothes. . .
Hey Alysha,
Cute stuff as usual, Mrs. Talented Queen. I love looking at your blog and decided to start one myself. It is www.chavez-familia.blogspot.com. Sounds pretty Spanglish huh..
Veronica is the best.
I love that Luke can color while practically doing the splits. It rained here too, at least I think it did, I spent the day in bed and it was not as fun as your day seemed to have been. Not at all. Although I did stay in my pajamas all day... since Sunday. Hee. I love the thought of Lukey practicing his dancing while you practice for church (good luck by the way). Not that Lukey needs any practice, he's got the moves down. Such raw talent that boy has. I watched a little of the 4th season of the OC, while not VM, it was almost like we did the same things only instead of any Lukey complaining it was me complaining and instead of Lukey getting a bath it was me not getting one. And like Lukey's mom got a good run in, so did my mom. and so on and so on. It's like I'm a toddler trapped in an 'adult' body.
I do like the idea of you and Katie r being twins for a whole week. It brings a smile to my face. You should do it, if for no other reason than to keep the smile on my face.
What are you playing in church? I admire your bravery. My ward does not know I play yet, but it may be a good way to get some free advertising, right?
As always, totally impressed with latest sewing masterpieces--especially that headband worn by the lovely Ashley Olsen...:)
Lysh: I love how you can turn a day (which would probably been unmemorable for most of us) into a day worthy of the blog and indcative of your unbounding love of motherhood and life itself. -- Dad
