Break needed
Just a few days off. The dress I am working on is stressing me out. I thought making some of these little guys would cheer me up. And they have.
They so remind me of all the Sanrio characters I love so much. Hence, the My Melody wannabe with the pink ears. I might be one of the only grown adults that still collects Hello Kitty paraphernalia. Every time I see the Hello Kitty waffle iron, phone, and alarm clock I try to imagine in my head how I could make it work with the mid-century decor we have going on. Even if I have a little girl someday, I can't see myself or Tom letting me decorate her room in pink (my favorite color) and hello kitty, even though I LOVE it. So instead, I will have little things like these as accents in my life. A little felt animal here, a hello kitty watch there, you know.
If you want to make yourself one of these cuties, they come from this book. I picked it up when I was visiting Chicago last spring, but procrastinated actually doing something with it. Glad I finally did, they're addicting.

you are very crafty! I'm lucky if I change out of my running clothes. How do you do it all?
those are adorable! you're so crafty.
those little guys are so cute! a few months ago i bought a pattern for felt finger puppets. the picture on the front was adorable and i thought they would make great church toys. i just haven't had time to get to them yet. plus i am intimidated because they are so small. did you find it difficult to work with such small pieces?
they turned out great Leesh.
hi alysha. this is amanda angel faleschini. i visit your blog from time-to-time thru daniel and michele's blog. i must say that your craftiness makes me jealous and ambitious at the same time. those are very cute. i wish i still collected sanrio stuff, but they don't have a cute store in minneapolis like they did in other places. you can get hello kitty at target just as easy, but it never seems the same to me. i love my melody too. did you know i tried to find another hello kitty watch like the one i used to have, but i can't find a style similar to that one anymore. it's such a bummer.
Very cute Mrs. Talented. I am excited to see how your dress turns out.
Lysh, I love these. So cute. And I love your obsession with My Melody as well as Hello Kitty. I too have to stop myself & think "Alysha doesn't really need this adorable Hello Kitty Lunch Box that comes with this handy dandy Hello Kitty thermos." And I've always wanted you to have the waffle iron. At the very least we must find you a replacement for your watch.
What a fun new creation! I am with you on the Hello Kitty, even though I like it I wouldn't deck out a bedroom in it. I am thinking a little girls' bathroom would be okay though...we shall see. And by the way there is no way those are the ugliest shoes of 2008. My mom had some like that, hmmm seventies-ish I'm thinking and they are timeless!
